Skarply ("we", "us", "our") operates the website skarply.com and the Skarply Chrome extension (together, the "Service"). This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. What we collect

Data you provide

• Listing URLs. When you use our website or Chrome extension to analyze a listing, the URL you submit is sent to our servers for processing.
• Contact emails. If you email us at contact@skarply.com, we receive your email address and message content.

Data we do not collect

• We do not require account creation or login.
• We do not collect your name, address, payment information, or browsing history.
• We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
• We do not track which marketplace listings you view. The extension only activates when you click the analyze button.

2. How we use your data

3. Third-party services

To provide the analysis, your listing URL and the extracted listing data (title, price, description, images) are processed by the following third-party services:

• Microsoft Azure AI (Azure AI Foundry) — hosts the AI model that generates the analysis. Data is processed in the EU (Sweden Central region). See Microsoft's privacy statement.
• Microsoft Azure (Container Apps, PostgreSQL) — hosts our backend infrastructure in Sweden. See above.
• Cloudflare — serves the website via CDN. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Affiliate links

When we suggest refurbished or new alternatives, those links may contain affiliate tracking parameters from our partners (Awin, Amazon Associates). Clicking an affiliate link means the partner may set a cookie on their own site to attribute a purchase. We do not receive any personal data about you from these partners — only anonymized commission reports.

5. Data retention

• Analysis cache: Deleted automatically after 30 minutes.
• Sold-price database: Contains publicly available listing data (titles, prices, platforms) scraped from marketplace search results. No personal data. Retained for up to 60 days for price comparison accuracy.
• Contact emails: Retained as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry, then deleted.

6. Chrome extension permissions

The Skarply Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: To detect the URL of the marketplace listing you're currently viewing, only when you click the extension button.
• host_permissions (our API): To send the listing URL to our analysis server and receive results.

The extension does not access your browsing history, read other tabs, or run in the background.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access — request what data we hold about you.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your data.
• Restriction — limit how we process your data.
• Portability — receive your data in a structured format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.

In practice, because we store almost no personal data (no accounts, no tracking), there is very little data to act upon. If you have questions or wish to exercise these rights, contact us at contact@skarply.com.

8. Children's privacy

Skarply is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
